PK Welding and Fabricators was founded in 1960, by Arnold H. Paashuis, in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. Initially, the company served as a custom metal fabricating shop. Its first exposure to the truck upfitting business, was the manufacture of mobile catering bodies with stainless steel interiors. During this time PK was able to establish a long-lasting relationship with the truck dealers. As PK’s reputation for innovation and quality grew, dealers began approaching the company with new concepts. One was the manufacture of a basic truck body, for the back of a regular van. The development of the commercial cutaway van or ‘cube’ van (which was new to Canada at that time) established PK as a major force in the light-duty truck body market in Ontario. Since that time PK has used its skilled workforce and innovation, to establish itself in new markets with its larger dry and refrigerated vans, all aluminum constructed walk-in vans, mobile TV production vans and trailers, ambulance bodies, and police and fire specialty vehicles. Today, PK Van Bodies (a
division of PK Welding and Fabricators) occupies a 30,000 sq. ft.
